CIPS

CIPS (Close Interfal protection Survey) is a very important aspect of a well designed cathodic protection system. It can offer important additional information about corrosion levels on burined pipelines.

CIPS measurements can be enhanced and made easier by remote switching of the transformer rectifier output. TRs along a pipeline must be very precisely synchronised for CIPS surveys, so that instantaneous OFF measurements can be taken without interference.

Abriox’s MERLIN Remote CP Monitoring System includes synchronised TR output for CIPS. Off potential monitoring for CP is proactive - ie it identifies potential corrosion problems at the test station or test post and alerts the operator immediately.
