CURRENT INTERRUPTER

A current interrupter is an increasingly important aspect of a well designed cathodic protection system. It can offer important additional information about DC and AC corrosion.

Current interrupters enables OFF measurements to be taken at CP test posts and CIPS surveys to be carried out. But on-site OFF measurements are labour-intensive, costly and (importantly) reactive - they do not identify corrosion problems but are merely spot current measurements taken after a corrosion problem may have occurred.

Current interruption is used by Abriox’s MERLIN Remote CP Monitoring System to enable OFF measurements to be taken at test posts automatically; MERLIN analyses and stores the data and transmits it wirelessly to a central location. Current interruption is proactive - ie it identifies potential corrosion problems at the test post and alerts the operator immediately. It has important economic, operational, safety and environmental benefits.

The MERLIN CP current interruption system is the ideal solution for taking OFF measurements economically at a transformer rectifier or test post.
