REMOTE DC MONITORING
Remote DC monitoring is an increasingly important aspect of a well designed pipeline protection system.
DC monitoring must be carried out regularly for CP levels at transformer rectifiers and test posts. But on-site DC checks are labour-intensive, costly and (importantly) reactive - they do not identify corrosion problems but are merely spot DC measurements taken after a corrosion problem may have occurred.
Abriox’s MERLIN Remote DC Monitoring System takes functional checks at TRs and test posts automatically, analyses and stores the data and transmits it wirelessly to a central location. Remote DC monitoring for CP is proactive - ie it identifies potential corrosion problems at the test station or test post and alerts the operator immediately.
