Abriox’s MERLIN system has been launched in Kazakhstan thanks to an agreement with local company Alpha Center.

Kazakhstan is the world’s 9th largest country and has over 20,000km of oil and gas pipelines. With the huge distances (from West KZ it is closer to fly to London rather than to East KZ!) and very harsh winter conditions, remote monitoring is highly attractive to pipeline operators. For example, weather conditions may preclude manual CP inspections in the winter for at least 20% of the pipeline length.

Alpha Center presented MERLIN at the KazGasPipeline conference held in Almaty during KIOGE, Kazakhstan’s main oil and gas conference and exhibition. In response to the high level of interest in the system, Abriox sales manager Richard Williams visited Kazakhstan to present the MERLIN system in detail to AGIP, InterGas Central Asia, KazTransOil and the Kazakhstan Institute of Oil and Gas (KING).
