june 2010: abriox takes to the air
A MERLIN remote CP monitoring system has been installed at Heathrow Airport. The system was supplied through CMS (Corrosion Monitoring Services) to Heathrow Hydrant Operating Company.
Aviation fuel is delivered to Heathrow by various suppliers; HHOpCo manages its distribution within the airport and maintains the fuel pipeline network. The fuel is stored in tanks and delivered to aircraft through pressurised ring mains (“hydrants”) going around the terminals. Each hydrant has a cathodic protection system, which is maintained, under contract to HHOpCo, by CMS.
Abriox’s web-based iCPSM system enables HHOpCo and CMS to access CP data on-line.
may 2010: new solar powered merlin
MERLIN units can now run directly off a 12V battery charged by solar panels.
This important improvement to the MERLIN system enables customers without an electrical AC supply to use solar cells. As Abriox increasingly expands internationally, this configuration is likely to become the standard for many of our clients, especially in the Middle East and North Africa.
The new design also incorporates significantly improved lightning protection.
Clients requiring details of how to power MERLIN units from solar cells are requested to call our Technical Support Hotline.
april 2010: agreement signed with cpc for libya
Abriox has signed an agreement with Cathodic Protection Company (CPC) Limited to collaborate in Libya.
The Agreement was signed by Andrew Arnold (Sales Director, CPC, left) and Neil Summers (Managing Director, Abriox, right) at the historic site of Leptis Magna near Tripoli.
CPC is the UK’s longest-standing cathodic protection company and supplies a wide range of products and services to oil and gas companies worldwide. CPC has worked in Libya for over 30 years and, in 2009, opened an office in Tripoli in support of its ongoing project work and to offer its customers in-country technical expertise.
With Abriox providing remote monitoring technology and CPC providing installation, commissioning and training services, as well as CIPS and DCVG surveys, the partnership is well positioned to provide a comprehensive CP monitoring package to Libyan pipeline operators.
march 2010: ABRIOX exhibits at nace
Abriox Inc. exhibited at the NACE Corrosion 2010 Exhibition in San Antonio, TX.
Over 5,800 corrosion professionals and 350 exhibitors travelled to San Antonio for the largest corrosion conference in the world, from 15-18 March 2010. Attendance was the highest in a decade.
New at the show were Abriox’s MERLIN-XT Rectifier Monitor incorporating satellite communication for remote geographical areas where GSM signals are low or simply not present. We also showed for the first time the new MERLIN-PMC Test Station Monitor which has been designed to fit neatly into a “fink”-type test post riser.
The new products generated a lot of interest and were regarded as excellent additions to the Abriox product range.
January 2010: first libyan installation
The first MERLIN system has been installed in Libya.
Through Cathodic Protection Company (CPC) Limited, Abriox has supplied Sirte Oil Company with TR monitoring and interruption as part of an evaluation of the benefits of remote CP monitoring.
Libya has around 6000km of crude oil pipeline and over 3000km of natural gas pipeline, much of which requires regular preventative maintenance against corrosion. The large distances and harsh desert environment means that remote CP monitoring is very beneficial to pipeline operators.
SOC is located in Marsa El Brega and its operations include oil and gas exploration and production and manufacturing. SOC operates the Raguba field in the central part of the Sirte Basin.
