The Position:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Specification, design and development of all mechanical aspects of a product whilst minimising product cost and maximising manufacturability and reliability
  • Specification, design and development of product housing, packaging and labels
  • Contribute to system design and preparation of product proposals
  • Contribute to planning and management of product development
  • Calculation and simulation of mechanical design parameters
  • Design for CE approval
  • Design testing
  • Preparation of all documentation required for the manufacture of a product, excluding PCBs and firmware

About You:

  • Qualifications: HND / Degree
  • Be self-managing
  • Be organised and tidy
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Have good communication
  • Have a sense of humour

Skills Required:

At least two years’ post graduation mechanical design experience covering many of the following fields:

  • Overall product design
  • Development of plastic mouldings and mould tools
  • Development of machined plastic and metal components
  • Design for hostile environments
  • Product documentation
  • Change control, issue status, raising and detailing product change notes
  • An appropriate mechanical design package (SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, etc.)
  • Assisting with product support during product introduction, and subsequently if necessary
  • Assisting with product approvals as necessary
  • Manage tooling manufacture including on-site visits as appropriate
  • Contribute to quality improvement and process development
